Late last week, Aleim Magazine packed into Pulqueria, the Mexican basement in a Chinatown Alley, for Lovecat Magazine’s holiday party. Sadly, we had lost our camera—long before restaurant owner Christopher Tierney, who was incredibly hospitable, suggested trying the Pulque (an alcoholic beverage made from the fermented sap of the maguey plant)—so we asked a few photographers there to help us out before Shinnosuke Katsube of 24 Hour Party People came to the rescue, snapping a shot of Papermag’s Zac Sebastian, rarely spotted without a good hat—Mallory Passuite for AM. Though seeming bashful when pecked by a pretty partygoer at an exclusive party for Art Basel in Miami, the ubiquitous street artist Alec Monopoly hasn’t shied from sales: one of his works sold to big name, for a big price last week. While the art fair draws an international crowd of art makers, sellers and buyers, it also lures celebrities and party people, many of whom attend more for the celebrating of the art than the actual buying of it. In fact, the only Hollywood celebrity to have bought something at Basel this year was Adrien Brody, who purchased an Avant Gallery piece by Alec at $20,000–Mallory Passuite
