The legendary Carmen De Lavallade on Spring Street in New York City. Ms. De Lavallade is renowned dancer who partnered with Alvin Ailey in Truman Capote’s “House of Flowers” in 1954. She danced as the prima ballerina in “Samson and Delilah,” and “Aida” at the Metropolitan Opera in 1955. Most recently, Ms. De Lavallade returned to the Metropolitan Opera as choreographer for “Porgy and Bess” and “Die Meistersinger.” She is married to dancer and actor Geoffrey Holder and is the subject of the documentary “Carmen and Geoffrey.”
